COLWYN BAY – Pier & Waterfront Project

Colwyn Bay Pier Development

Victoria Pier is located at the promenade in the centre of the bay close to COLWYN BAY railway station. Future developments are planned to regenerate the Victorian Pier, the promenade, and some areas of the town near the railway station. The planned regeneration of the area will benefit the town hugely as a tourist location.  Aesthetically pleasing structures will be welcomed by local residents and businesses of Colwyn Bay to compliment the sandy beaches and excellent scenery which the North Wales coast has to offer visitors in the area.

Conwy County Borough Council officers and councillors, representatives of the Pier Pressure Group, a Trustee in Bankruptcy and Welsh Assembly Government all joined together in October 2010 to review the structural appraisal that was carried out to assess the Victoria pier.  The meeting involved discussions regarding the details of ownership, work required and how to obtain adequate funding for a prospective restoration project.  The report estimated the renovation of the pier, with pavilion building, could be in the region of £5.5million.  All parties present agreed to work together to explore options as to how to restore and rejuvenate the pier at Colwyn Bay.
